I am unable to understand method of calculation adopted by War Office in arriving at the dollar equivalent as dollars 522,711. I do not however agree to the

principle involved in the repayment in dollars. Amount originally paid represented equivalent to £114,317.18.9 in sterling and I consider that this Government is entitled to the repayment in sterling of the same amount. Pending settlement of the principle and without prejudice I am deducting from monthly payments amount(s) up to dollars 522,711.
